INDIA: Bharti Airtel – one of the leading service providers in India has announced on 5th July, 2010 that it will offer the full site of Facebook on mobile without any charges for 2 months.

Airtel customers who are Facebook users will be able to post status updates, comment and write on walls, message others, and also be able to view or upload photos with out worrying about the cost. The existing mobile internet customers on Airtel, can immediately start connecting with their friends by visiting the Facebook mobile site. But those Airtel customers who are accessing the mobile internet for the first time, they need to simply SMS ‘FACEBOOK’ to 54321 to take advantage of this special offer.

In a statement, Chief Marketing Officer Mobile Services Bharti Airtel Shireesh Joshi said, ”We are pleased to bring an industry-leading offer to our 130 million plus customers by announcing this long-term partnership with Facebook – the popular social media service.” Facebook’s mobile site will be initially available in English and Hindi, with five other languages – Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam – soon to follow by July 15, 2010. In order to access Facebook on Airtel, you have to send an SMS ‘FACEBOOK’ to 54321, then feed your email address and password and connect and share with your friends while on the gp – with no data cost on m.facebook.com until 31st August, 2010.
