UNITED STATES: Motorola Mobility is working on a new device to stream content from home video systems to mobile devices within their homes.
Motorola might make an announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month that involves a set-top box accessory that’s capable of streaming content to a mobile phone. With this latest device, users will be able to access their recorded television programs while on the road. But it will be limited to inside the home, at first, without contracts from cable providers. Motorola Mobility president Daniel Maloney said, “This is why the streaming product will initially only send video to devices being used within the home. Moving content outside the home could take much longer.” Motorola also plans for cable boxes in the future allowing users to stream live television content to laptops and mobile phones.
